Position Overview:
XCEL Home Health is seeking GERIATRIC NURSING ASSISTANT for an exciting Travel or Local job in the locations identified below. The GERIATRIC NURSING ASSISTANT (GNA) provides hands-on care and assistance to elderly clients under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse (RN or LPN). The GNA ensures the comfort, dignity, and safety of geriatric clients, assisting with daily living needs and supporting overall quality of life.


Location(s):  STERLING; DULLES,  VA


Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to the supervising RN/LPN and Agency Manager/Administrator.

 

Qualifications/Prerequisites

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant in the state (after CNA certification and additional GNA requirements).
  • Successful completion of state-approved GNA training and competency evaluation.
  • Must pass background check and drug screen.
  • Ability to perform physical caregiving tasks safely.
     

Responsibilities/Activities

  • Assist elderly clients with personal hygiene and grooming.
  • Provide mobility support, transfers, and repositioning.
  • Monitor and report physical or behavioral changes to supervising nurses.
  • Support clients with nutrition, hydration, and feeding.
  • Assist with toileting and incontinence care.
  • Offer emotional support and companionship to geriatric clients.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
  • Comply with infection control, HIPAA, and agency policies.

  • Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition elderly clients.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Emotional stability to work with frail, chronic, or terminally ill clients.
